Spot The Difference

What a week in business with Westpac shedding jobs to protect their profits, personally it’s not a great way of treating your own, I would suggest maybe shedding some of senior managements royalties and therefore retaining the jobs, and then Westpac’s greedy  profits are protected. The Westpac management are paid ‘accordingly’ to make the big decisions in running their business, well this week I feel they have failed their own people and the community in their decision-making processes, so before they check their account balance for this week, I would suggest a time for reflection on their performance by watching this short video  about other ways to run a business, providing a win/win outcome for everyone. Can you Spot The Difference?

The Race That Starts A Nation-Japan

I thought I’d show this video of the recent win of a Japanese horse called Victoire Pisa who won the Group One US$10 million Dubai World Cup, the most valuable race in the world, this 4-year-old horse is trained by the Japanese trainer Katsuhiko Sumii and ridden by an Italian jockey Mirco Dimuro. In light of the fact that Japanese horses haven’t got the best strike rate when they race on foreign soil, this was an unexpected  victory, it gives the Japanese people a reason to be hopeful, that all is not lost in their world considering the devastation surrounding them with recent events. It’s only a horse race in reality that’s all it is when you line it up against the destruction and deaths of so many people, but sometimes it’s these small events that we as humans can hold onto for comfort, to realise there is hope, to find out what it’s like to feel again, we must do whatever we can to provide for our friends, the people of Japan, so they can find the impetus to move forward and live again.

Its Time For A Reality Check

Do you believe 8 million children die needlessly every year in poorer countries from basic illnesses, 8 million innocent lives gone whilst we go on living a comfortable existence, the silly thing is we able to choose if we want to reverse this needless annual event, unfortunately these children don’t have a choice, so please contribute to Save the Children UK by donation or anyway you can, yell from the treetops, blog, just do something. Please watch the video below, take it in, look at the smiles on these lovely children’s faces and then make your choice. Thanks to Stephen Fry for the link to this video from Twitter. http://twitter.com/STEPHENFRY

Autism Spectrum Australia

We may at times struggle to keep our head above water financially and it’s nigh on impossible to support and contribute to all issues within our community, but if somehow we can go without a couple of coffees and a sticky bun for a week and find something to donate which will help the many people who have Autism, their families, friends, and support networks, particularly organisations like Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), who importantly use evidence – based research in conducting their many and varied programs (e.g. early intervention) and hopefully with an understanding throughout the community of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) eventually we will move towards a cure for this condition. The bonus apart from the obvious turn around in so many lives of a cure is we can finally dispense with all the snake-oil salesman, crackpots and new age medical profiteers who continuously market their cures for Autism on a daily basis throughout the world on the web, media and a range of publications which results in giving people false hope and fleecing their money from them, this is a cynical way to treat people who are coping  daily with so many emotions dealing with ASD, although I can understand that if you or your family are in this position of trying to deal with ASD it must be a major temptation to look for answers in the world of ‘no’ evidence – based research, but alas this is fraught with danger as you only need to look at the fiasco within AVN-Australian (Anti) Vaccination Network and their philosophy of childhood vaccines causing Autism which is a ‘no’ evidence based theory resulting in parents receiving false hope from this non entity organisation, they are giving people medical & healthcare advice without any basis or qualifications to do so. Please if you have questions go to your medical or healthcare professional not a disreputable website who think in ‘conspiracy theory’ terms instead of reality. Anyway check out the short video below which gives an insight into this condition. Love You Shane

Being a Hawthorn Football Club supporter for years now and having had so many great moments that this football club have given to me during these years inspired by some wonderful footballers who have worn our jumper with pride I often reflect on these times and try to figure out what has filled me with pride, which moment had sent my emotions from my heart out of my body into the here and now, was it the moment when Dermott Brereton in the 1989 Grand Final got up off the ground (after the Mark Yeates collision) when he couldn’t, the moment when Leigh Matthews literally mugged in the 1st half of a game at Princes Park against Carlton in the 1980’s and inspired his team with 5 goals to come from behind and win, even the merger game in 1996 against Melbourne when Chris Langford took his jumper off as he headed to the rooms after the game, to display to everyone his support for his team, there was also Dermott Brereton’s speech to the fans at Glenferrie Oval who rallied against the merger with Melbourne instigated by another Hawthorn great in Don Scott, the 1991 Premiership Team labelled as ‘too old and too slow’ by the experts, there are many more I could rattle off  but I will spare you the history lesson. You may say that there is more important things in life than football, and you would be right, but alas these instances are football imitating life, as all these people fought for what they believed in, and in doing so have inspired myself to be passionate and motivated in my life to fight for what I believe in. I know what your thinking now ‘ What has this to do with your headline ‘Love You Shane’ ???? The Shane is Shane Crawford ( just happens to be a premiership player with Hawthorn as well, that’s uncanny!!!) who for the past week has walked from Adelaide to Melbourne to raise money and awareness about breast cancer, he is suffering mentally and physically from all reports, so please support this cause and the community via this link : http://www.bcna.org.au/events/key-fundraising-events/shane-crawford-thats-what-im-walkin-about .This is a noble effort from a man who put his body on the line for 17 years for his football club, his passion had never wavered despite the tough years when people were lining up to question his commitment to his football, there is no doubt that Shane is committed and passionate to everything he does in his life as shown by his efforts over the last week. I’m proud of the Hawthorn Football Club and all those memories engraved into my mind, Shane Crawford this week has added another. Love You Shane

Children’s Stories About Truth & Respect

If you’re a teacher, you work with children or have children yourself the following would be ideal to educate them about truth and respect as they grow and learn about our country and its people. One Day Hill Publishers have just released these wonderful children’s books to find out more on the background to these stories please enjoy the following short video and you can even purchase these books from their website as follows: http://www.onedayhill.com.au/3-inspiration-stories/  Please support Ian Thorpe’s Fountain for Youth, a charitable organisation for indigenous children, as this charity was a major sponsor, and I did hear, but do stand corrected that some proceeds of the book sales will go back into the aboriginal communities to purchase musical instruments for the kids, if  I’m wrong well I feel that’s a good move anyway.

Calling all South Australians to check out the flyer below as Singer/Songwriter Shane Howard is in town to entertain you next weekend showcasing the new album ‘Goanna Dreaming’ which I must admit is on high rotation in my home and has been since I purchased it, you can purchase from Shane’s Website www.shanehoward.com.au

The Life You Can Save, Please Pledge

Please enjoy this video by Peter Singer, it made me think and provided me with a good dose of reality, I feel its good to stop living inside our heads, and to move out into the world of humanity, as its doesn’t have to be all about us and what we want.I always look at my situation, how am I coping with life’s struggles at any one time, and just when I start feeling sorry for myself, I ask what it would be like, suffering from a chronic illness?, or not knowing where your next bit of food is coming from?, if ever, having nowhere to shelter from the elements?, fighting to survive every second of the day?, please feel welcome to question yourself about this as well, see what answers you receive. We as people who have our health, food, and shelter are so very lucky in our own life, so please consider a pledge  to http://www.thelifeyoucansave.com/ and lets all go from strength to strength as people, lets look after those in need. Please feel free to leave a comment. Thank-you
